Many new membership applications were accepted in the meeting, welcome! Next meeting: the last meeting of the steering committee of term 2009 at Restaurant Smör (Turku) on Wednesday January 27th, 2010, 18:30-08:00 o'clock. (19.1.2010/TH)

7th meeting of the steering committee of term 2009 The meeting was held via videoconference on Tuesday 8th of December, 2009. The main themes of the meeting were the program, arrangements and advertising of the next symposium. The board also discussed on the content of the 2010 issue of Polymorfi journal and draw out some final additions to the new web pages. The distribution of the member letter 2009 (including the invoice for the membership fee of 2009), which started during early December, has been hindered by lack of current contact details of many members. Hence, the board discussed about sending future member letters via e-mail instead of the regular post. The association of pharmaceutical students Fortis ry and the Finnish Society of Physical Pharmacy are currently in talks over publishing a text book on pharmaceutical science. Potentially, a representative of the Society would act as the editor-in-chief of this text book. If you are potentially interested on such appointment, please contact the board. Two new member applications were reviewed and accepted in the meeting, welcome aboard new members! The next meeting will be arranged on Wednesday 13th Monday 18th of January 2010, 16-18 o'clock. Societys electronic journal archives available! During its 20 years of activities the Society has published quite a substantial amount of scientific literature, especially issues of the Polymorfi journal and books of abstracts in the annual symposiums. Before year 2000 these publications were distributed as traditional hardcopies, thus the availability of most of these is nowadays limited. Since those times electronic publishing has revolutionized the distribution of scientific literature and data. Thus, the need for making the old publications available electronically has been obvious so that the valuable data wouldn't be lost and could be made available to new generations of scientists working in the field of physical pharmacy. During this term the Society decided to start looking for the old publications and convert them to electronic form. Thankfully, most of the old publications could still be located from different sources and could now be made available online. In addition to collecting large amount of data for easy online access, the editorials, columns, causeries, board introductions, profiles, interviews, travel logs, and even some slightly humorous essays in the publications are a great archive of history for the Society and in general the development of the physical pharmacy research in Finland through the years. Some items are still missing from the archives (e.g. member information leaflet 1/1992, book of abstracts 1996) and the board now asks help from the members of the Society to locate these. Please contact the board if you have any material that you feel should be included or is missing from the archives! (28.8.2009/TH)
EuPAT 4 - Taking PAT to the next level. May 2010! Concentrating on PAT issues the EuPAT 4 conference (Fourth pan-European PAT Science Conference) will be held next year in Kuopio, Finland during 5-6th of May, 2010. You can find more information from the first invitation and from the web pages of the organizers (EUFEPS PAT network). Interesting PAT issues have also been presented in the previous annual symposiums of physical pharmacy. Certainly the EuPAT 4 meeting will draw many members of the Society under the same roof. (27.8.2009/TH)
3rd meeting of the steering committee of term 2009 The third meeting was held via videoconference on Wednesday 3rd of June, 2009. It was also decided that the minutes of the board meetings will be electronically archived from now on. Also it was decided to start looking for a suitable candidate to modernize the look of the web pages. 2nd meeting of the steering committee of term 2009 The steering committee met for the second time during this term on 28th of April, 2009 via videoconference. The board decided that the next symposium should be held in Turku, Finland on the 28th of January, 2010. "Biomaterials and pharmacy" was contemplated as the main topic of the symposium and potential venues for the symposium were discussed. To spice the traditional symposium program the board discussed about organizing a "Young scientist of the year" competition. A new e-mail list for the Societys members has been under internal testing between the board members and it has been found to work very well. It was decided that the e-mail list will be put to use. The next meeting of the board will be held on 3rd of June, 2009 between 16-18 o'clock. (28.4.2009/TH)

Web pages on new server The www pages you are now reading were moved to a new server. The switch allows easier linking to specific pages on this site, e.g. http://www.fysikaalinenfarmasia.fi/43-symposium, which was not possible before due to domain address issues. The dedicated web hotel also allows more dynamic features to be added to the web pages, for example a discussion forum is possible. Should the Society have it? Send your feedback to the board at hallitus@fysikaalinenfarmasia.fi! (3.4.2009/TH)

In the spirit of the special symposium, all of the speakers were rewarded with a very special scientific instrument as a souvenir, namely the saunameter, which measures some of the most important parameters in the field of physical pharmacy (i.e. temperature and humidity). The book of abstracts (Polymorfi 2009) for the meeting has been released, and it can be found from the symposium page. Later on, some of the slides of the presentations seen in the meeting, as well as photos will be published on the same page. (January 2009/TH)
